Bee Improvement -One Day Home Study & One Day Practical

BIBBA will be repeating the popular Bee Improvement courses in various locations around the UK. These will be one-day apiary-based events, with online tutorials as part of the preparatory learning. The courses are intended for beekeepers who wish to produce queens in batches of 6 or more, using “artificial” methods from locally adapted stock. Attendees should be at a reasonable ability level, know the “basics” and be competent handlers of colonies, as this course is predominantly practical.

This isn’t just a queen rearing course, as it also includes the reasons for producing home-reared queens, colony handling and assessment, selection criteria, queen cell distribution, queen introduction and much more. It should satisfy the needs of the progressive beekeeper who may wish to step up towards being semi-commercial, as well as local BKA teachers, demonstrators, mentors and apiary managers. Attendee numbers are restricted to allow a good level of interaction and tuition and the tutors are experienced beekeepers.

As a brief guide, there is a short trailer that can be viewed here. It is free.
