Live @ The Hive
“Live @ the Hive” features Roger Patterson bringing you live sessions direct from his home apiary in West Sussex, although occasionally there may be other locations featured. We are restricted because of bandwidth.
Drawing on about 60 years experience, gained by observing countless free-living and managed colonies in widely different locations and conditions, Roger brings his practical knowledge and tips direct to your digital device. The sessions are genuine hive inspections that often show problems in the same way as all beekeepers find when inspecting their own colonies. Not all sessions will be full colony inspections, as there may be a technique or topic shown, but there is always something different and interesting.
By their nature, “Live @ the Hive” sessions aren’t scripted and the hives aren’t prepared for the camera, as can be seen from the spontaneous nature of the sessions and the banter between Roger, Martina who operates the camera and Richard, who conducts the sessions from Barnsley in Yorkshire, over 200 miles away. Roger can’t see what viewers see, so Richard advises Martina on camera positions and poses questions and comments from viewers based on what they have seen. It is a fun event for all!
“Live @ the Hive” has gained a good following, with viewers from a wide area, including the US.
The weather makes dates and times of the sessions a little difficult to predict, so they may be at short notice. Remember to subscribe to our YouTube channel to be reminded of our latest broadcasts. Below you will find a playlist of previous Live @ The Hive events.
