Born in York, Guy has lived in the Surrey Hills for the last 20 years. He graduated with a degree in Engineering from Cambridge and spent a number of years in engineering and management positions with Shell and Citibank before leaving to start his own business developing consumer products. In 2008 he shifted focus to renewable energy and worked designing and developing heat and power systems aimed at the small industrial and agricultural sector. He extends his engineering to beekeeping: he is particularly interested in the thermodynamics of hive designs and the effect they have on colony strength, survival and energy consumption.
Guy is a member of the Wisborough Green BKA and is very keen on locally adapted bees. A Surrey Hills bee improvement group is on the horizon.
