BIBBA Conference 2018   6th- 9th September  RAU Cirencester.

"Improve Your Bees and Beekeeping"

BIBBA hold their conference biennially at various venues throughout the BIBBA catchment area. The 2014 conference was held in Llangollen, North Wales to celebrate BIBBAs 50th anniversary. The 2016 event was in the Isle of Man. The 2018 will be held in Cirencester.

About the conference

The conference will be open to all beekeepers, whether BIBBA members or not. Everyone is welcome. There will be an exciting programme over three days, with various options so you can attend all three days or single days if you wish. For those with some distance to travel there will be the opportunity to arrive on Thursday 6th Sept, with an evening lecture. The organisers want the conference to be a celebration of beekeeping at its best.

Throughout the main three days there will be three streams of presentations to choose from. For identification purposes they are "Room 1, 2 & 3":-

  1. Bee breeding, bee improvement, queen rearing, etc. These topics will satisfy those who wish to improve their bees and those locally. There will be information to help beekeepers to produce their own queens from stock that suits their environment, rather than relying on buying queens, possibly imported, that may not.
  2. Other beekeeping topics to suit everyone, whatever their experience or interest. We hope to help beekeepers to understand their bees better, so they can develop management methods to keep them healthy and productive.
  3. Beginner and Beyond is intended for beekeepers in their early years in the craft to cater for this important group that is often forgotten. There are a wide variety of topics, all relevant to those who are relatively inexperienced, but are eager to learn how to keep their bees with care and understanding and develop their management system. All speakers in this group have been asked to explain their topics in a manner that fairly inexperienced beekeepers can understand.

In addition there will be seminars and workshops.

About the presentations

There will be over 50 presentations including lectures, seminars and workshops, given by over 30 of the best presenters you will find at one event, some of whom you won't get a chance to see very often. Whatever your experience, from the beginner to long time beekeeper, there will be something for you.

The presentations in Rooms 1 and 2 and the seminars are aimed at all beekeepers, those in Room 3 are at a more basic level to suit the relatively inexperienced beekeeper. There are no restrictions and all participants are free to attend whatever they like.

All participants may attend any lecture or seminar without pre-booking, but please satisfy yourself the topic and level suits your interests and needs.

All workshops must be pre-booked by emailing Roger Patterson stating which workshop you want.
Numbers are limited; if you no longer wish to attend please advise, so your place can be taken by someone else. Be aware there are two sessions with each workshop, some lasting one hour, some two. Please check before booking.
