BIBBA Workshops
The workshop idea
An idea originally floated by Albert Knight and others, for UK honey bee clubs and
associations to be visited by a travelling workshop that BIBBA would prepare and take
to the location of a group of beekeepers, provided there were sufficient beekeepers
attending to make it worthwhile. Expenses being funded either by making a charge for
those attending or meeting these out of the funds of the Association being visited.
It being up to the Association or group to decide.
A travelling workshop could offer...
demonstrations on grafting of larvae
making up mini-nucs
morphometry
opportunities for those attending to have 'hands-on' experience
pure bred Apis mellifera mellifera bees could provide the larvae for grafting
these grafts could be put in a cell-raiser if this was prepared beforehand
queens raised could be sold by the group to help with funding the visit
Workshops
BIBBA can run workshops providing hands-on experience of colony assessment, morphometry,
and/or queen raising, tailored to the requirements of a particular group of beekeepers.
